Giant seagull kills pigeon just yards from where Gizmo the chihuahua was snatched
A MONSTER seagull has been snapped devouring a pigeon just yards from where Gizmo the chihuahua was snatched.
The feathered fiend launched into the grisly attack yesterday - a week after the four-year-old dog was taken from a back garden in Paignton, Devon.
Gizmo's heartbroken owner Rebecca Hill has told The Sun Online the menacing birds "will eat anything" after being alerted to the photos.
She said: "The seagulls are real pests and something should be done to control them.
“The attack on a pigeon shows that they do come inland to find food and they will eat anything.
“This latest attack by a seagull happened in Church Street, Paignton which is inland from the sea.”
The pigeon was 28cm - bigger than 5lbs Gizmo - leading to fresh fears a seagull was able to snatch the dog in its beak.
It was pictured being devoured just a few streets away from Rebecca's home in the town.
Gizmo was snatched by a huge gull last Sunday as Rebecca's partner Ashley was hanging out the washing.
Describing the horror moment, she said: "My partner Ashley was hanging the washing out when Gizmo went out on Sunday lunchtime to go to the toilet. He would normally just lie in his bed.
"And it all happened so quickly, one minute he was in the garden and then there was a yelp and Ashley saw him being carried off by the seagull.
"I love animals but these birds are real pests and can cause real damage, but this time of year the seagulls are looking for food for their young and obviously saw Gizmo as an easy picking."
There was hope for the pooch today after a leg feared to belong to the missing dog turned out to belong to a rabbit.
The grisly limb was found by walker Natalie Williams who alerted The Sun after reading of our appeal, which offers a £5,000 reward to find the missing pooch.
Meanwhile a terrified mum has warned about vicious divebombing seagulls who attacked her child and dog –four years ago.
