Schoolboy Sam Connor, 14, died from laceration to neck after jumping in front of train as horrified classmates watched at Chertsey station
TRAGIC schoolboy Sam Connor who jumped to his death in front of a train last week was killed by a laceration to his neck, an inquest opening heard today.
The 14-year-old died last Monday afternoon at Chertsey station, Surrey in front of 50 horrified classmates after being "bullied online" by trolls posting nasty comments.
Sam had handed over his mobile phone and school bag to pals - as well as a scrap of paper thought to be a suicide note.
The letter is said to have contained two names, which haven't been made public, and the password to access his mobile.
Police found a piece of paper which was removed as evidence although there has been no confirmation it was written by Sam.
Pathologist Dr Michael Hall told Woking Coroners' Court he conducted a post-mortem on Sam's body and concluded the cause of death was a severe cut to his neck.

Sam's badly injured body was positively identified at the mortuary by his father, James Connor and brother, James Jnr, the five-minute inquest opening heard.
The Salesian Secondary School student had jumped onto train tracks from platform two at the railway station in Chertsey, Surrey, as a train approached.
Dozens of pupils were chatting as they waited for their daily train home when they saw Sam, a year nine pupil from Ashford, Surrey, jump to his death.
Tributes from pals and wellwishers poured in for Sam after the tragedy.
Deborah Barrett, the first wife of Sam's dad, James, said: "It's horrible. You can't imagine, can you? I've just spoken to my middle one and she said he just lay down on the tracks.

One pal revealed the teen was one of the "nicest and most charming" boys at a local breakdancing club.
He posted a photo of Sam on Facebook with his friends, writing: "Cannot not even think of an emotion to describe how I am right now apart from just heartbroken.
"No parent should ever have to bury their own child. The child should always bury the parents.
"The crying with happiness, the laughs, the dancing will never be the same without you.

Senior Surrey coroner Richard Travers adjourned the inquest until October, when a pre-inquest review will take place.
None of Sam's family was present at the hearing.
