Sun’s leadership debate is Bojo and Hunt’s last chance to win over our readers

Last chance

TONIGHT Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt face off for the final time, at The Sun’s leadership debate.

They know the Tories have no chance of winning back their majority if they can’t secure the support of Sun readers. And both men should realise they still have lots of questions to answer.

Boris has promised he will take Britain out of the EU on October 31, come what may. Good — but how exactly does he propose to deliver in the face of a Parliament stuffed with Remainers? If his answer is a General Election, then how will he persuade fed-up voters to abandon the Brexit Party?

And what are his tax plans? Will he prioritise cuts for the rich, or start by easing the pressure on the lowest paid?

Jeremy Hunt’s problem is different — he has set out detailed policy plans, but has failed to convince Brexiteers he really is on their side.

After an increasingly aggressive campaign against Mr Johnson, how can he hope to bring the party back together in the unlikely event he makes it to No10?

There is so much at stake. As a new report shows, millions of working-class voters are up for grabs at the next election, and it’s vital the Tories don’t lose them to Labour’s hard-left cult.

Boris and Jeremy, this is your last chance to make your case to the nation. Don’t waste it.
