Diane Abbott calls for Tom Watson to quit for blasting cancer-stricken party boss
LABOUR hit new chaos with Diane Abbott suggesting Tom Watson should resign for blasting a cancer-stricken party boss.
Deputy leader Watson suggested general secretary Jennie Formby had lied to him to cover up anti-Semitism.
But Corbynista front-benchers piled in to savage him as Formby is having treatment for breast cancer.
And in an extraordinary move, Ms Abbott re-tweeted Leftie activist Claudia Webbe’s remark to Mr Watson: “You should consider your position.”
Ms Formby had hit back at Mr Watson’s allegation – accusing him of “traducing my reputation and publicly attacking me when you know I am undergoing chemotherapy”.
Shadow justice secretary Richard Burgon tweeted: “Jennie Formby deserves better than unfair attacks - she has made herself available to answer questions and provide information despite undergoing gruelling treatment for cancer.”
Labour MP Emma Dent Coad accused Mr Watson of “relentless” bullying against Ms Formby.
Their ferocious attacks come after Labour bosses issued an instruction manual telling activists how to hit back at explosive anti-Semitism allegations made in Panorama.
MP Ian Austin – who left Labour over the anti-Semitism crisis – blasted the criticisms of Mr Watson.

He said: “I left the Labour Party because of the terrible, permissive culture of anti-Semitism that has poisoned the party.
“And to attack Tom Watson, who appears to be the only person actually trying to do something about it, looks like a tawdry diversionary tactic to protect Jeremy Corbyn, who has gone into hiding.”
Labour have furiously denied allegations they are not tackling the anti-Semitism crisis.
