Three peers quit Labour after accusing Jeremy Corbyn of leading racist party

THREE peers sensationally quit Labour yesterday and furiously accused leader Jeremy Corbyn of leading a racist party.

In one astonishing attack, ex-Labour general secretary Lord Triesman said Mr Corbyn was anti-Semitic.

Blasting him for leading Labour “into the gutter”, he warned: “The experience of life in the party has become sickening.”

Minutes later ex-health minister Lord Darzi and top medic Lord Turnberg also dramatically quit.

All three tore into Mr Corbyn, who was accused of sitting back while Labour’s ranks have been flooded by anti-Semites.

Lord Triesman, former chairman of the Football Association, raged: “The Labour Party is very plainly institutionally anti-Semitic, and its leader and his circle are anti-Semitic. It is no longer a safe political environment for Jewish people.”

The shock resignations come ahead of an explosive BBC Panorama documentary tonight which claims to lift the lid on Labour’s anti-Semitism crisis.

Responding to the resignations, Labour rejected “these false and offensive claims”.

A spokesman said: “The Labour Party at all levels is implacably opposed to anti-Semitism.”

The Sun Says

THERE you have it, folks. Labour’s final betrayal of democracy.

The party that once claimed to speak for the public now shows what it really thinks of them, coming out for a second referendum because people stubbornly refused to vote the “right” way last time.

Predictably, the clowns haven’t even managed to execute a U-turn properly.

They still haven’t said what they’d do if there is an election before we leave the EU — a depressingly real prospect.

Nor have they made clear what they think constitutes a “Tory Brexit”, other than the fact it’s negotiated by. . .Tories.

Their patronising attitude goes far beyond Brexit.

They say they take racism seriously, then do nothing about it to the point that three respected peers resigned yesterday, one describing the party as “institutionally anti-Semitic”.

They promise they’d protect the economy in a “Labour Brexit” (we’ve no idea what that is, either) at the same time as proposing a programme of nationalisation that would cost Britain billions.

And they call for a “kinder, gentler politics”, while the Shadow Chancellor refuses to apologise for saying a female Tory MP should be lynched.

It’s not the “media” that are Labour’s problem, as various useful idiots continue to claim. It’s the party’s own hopeless leadership.
