LOTT TO LOSE

£11.4m in unclaimed Lottery winnings up for grabs but time is running out – have you checked your ticket?

Millions of pounds have gone unclaimed

THE clock is ticking on a staggering £11.4million of unclaimed lotto cash – after £1million went begging yesterday.

The unlucky ticket holder lost out on the massive jackpot after failing to contact organisers Camelot by Monday’s deadline.

The punter, who bought their ticket in Manchester in January, scooped £1million after matching five numbers and the bonus ball on the Lotto draw.

But they failed to come forward and after yesterday’s six-month deadline expired, the cash went to good causes.

The winning numbers from the draw were 3, 17, 36, 42, 51, 57 and the bonus ball was 18.

The National Lottery’s Andy Carter said last week: "Time is really running out."

And the cash is just part of a King’s ransom of loot that is going begging.

The next prize that could slip through someone’s fingers is £1m won on the EuroMillions – also in January. A ticket bought in West Oxfordshire scooped the cash having the winning code XHRG26506 and they have until July 28 to step forward.

In total there are ten EuroMillions and two Lotto jackpots of £1 million yet to be claimed, as well as £147,000 and £54,000 EuroMillions prizes and a total of £240,000 on the new Set for Life game.

And of the £1 million jackpots will be lost on the same day – August 28 – if the winners don’t surface.

The biggest prize to go unclaimed was in 2012, when £63.8million went begging after a ticket was bought in the Stevenage and Hitchin area.

BIG WINS

It comes after a UK ticketholder successfully claimed a £123million EuroMillions jackpot - the third biggest win ever.

The new multi-millionaire chose to remain anonymous.

The owner of the winning ticket matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars - with the winning numbers 25, 27, 39, 42 and 46, with Lucky Stars 11 and 12.

Lotto organisers had put out a frantic appeal to the lucky punter to come forward amid fears they didn't realise they had won.

The single UK ticket holder's newly won fortune will catapult them into the Sunday Times Rich List of the 1,000 wealthiest people living in the UK or with British business links.

Other big winners who have gone public include Colin and Chris Weir, who won £161million on the EuroMillions in 2011.

Adrian Bayford and his ex-wife Gillian also won £148million on the EuroMillions in 2012 - but split 15 months after their win.

Frances and Patrick Connolly also won £114.9million in the New Year's Day EuroMillions jackpot in 2019.

The couple were the first of now four big wins this year - with Ade Goodchild making £71million in March and an anonymous ticket-holder bagged £35.2million in April.
