Boris Johnson will have to make a pact with Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party if he’s forced into early election, top Brexiteer warns

BORIS Johnson will be forced to make a pact with the Brexit Party if he is forced into an early election before the end of October, a top Brexiteer has warned.

Steve Baker, a leading eurosceptic and backer of Boris, said the Tories would have no choice but to form an alliance with Nigel Farage's Party if he's forced into a fresh vote within weeks.

He warned last night: "If Remainer Conservatives drive us to a general election we are going to need a pact with the Brexit Party in order to survive.

"The manifesto for that will have to be one which the Brexit Party and its voters approve of. There is otherwise no hope of continued support for the Conservative Party as a governing force. Of course if we secure our exit from the EU this whole thing goes away."

He said that all Brexit parties should team up to make sure they don't allow Jeremy Corbyn's party into No10.

The Brexit Party just lost out in the the Peterborough by-election as the Brexit vote was split.

Labour narrowly held onto the seat by just a few hundred votes.

Mr Farage has warned that voting for the Tories now risks Mr Corbyn getting into Downing Street by the back door.

Mr Baker went on: “The logic of our position is inevitable. The survival of the UK as a democratic, free-market country relies on defeating Jeremy Corbyn.

"I am personally not very fond of Nigel Farage because he has created so many problems for the movement of Brexit.

"But what I observe totally dispassionately is a slick political party developing a mass movement that is going to wipe out the Conservative Party unless we stop it."

Boris has ruled out working with Nigel Farage to deliver Brexit so far, and promised to finally get us out by October 31.

Only by truly leaving on time can the Tories see off the threat of Nigel Farage, Boris has insisted.

But the Brexit Party is chasing the Tories in the polls - and has even beaten them in one.

Mr Farage stormed the European elections last month as voters abandoned the Tories in droves for failing to deliver Brexit.

He's vowed to fight every seat at the next general election and the party are in the process of choosing their 650 people to stand.

One of those will be ex-Tory minister Ann Widdecombe, who is now a Brexit Party MEP.

She made waves yesterday with a furious speech in the European Parliament, saying the EU treat people like slaves and Britain is right to leave the bloc as soon as we can.
