Will love blossom behind a blindfold?

SUN DATING: This week our romantic hopefuls are left in the dark

Kevin from Cambridge

THIS week our daters were left in the dark when they met each other blindfolded.

Kevin Buxton and Susan Wilson were at Manhattan Bar and Grill in West India Quay, East London ().

Here DIANA APPLEYARD finds out how they got on.

DANCE choreographer Susan, 55, of Stockwell, South London, says:

“It was a chance to judge someone without having any idea what they looked like. But it was a double-edged sword because you start building up a mental image and that expectation can be dashed by reality.”

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: “He sounded nice — jovial and very polite — and did his best to put me at ease.

“He was making a documentary about the Tour de France and what he was saying was interesting. I built up a mental image of this gorgeous, perfect man and was quite excited.”

DIVORCED presenter Kevin, 55, who lives with his son Alex, 13, in Cambridge, says:

“I was less nervous about this than I would be a traditional blind date. With this, I would not be able to have any preconceptions. I haven’t been on a date in ages, because it’s so hard to find time with work and looking after my son, who is my priority.”

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: “She had a nice voice and sounded very easy going and intelligent. We had a lot in common and our chat didn’t cease — we found out a lot about each other in a very short space of time.”

Her verdict

WHEN our blindfolds came off I was a little surprised. Kevin looked totally different to how I imagined. He is a very nice-looking guy, but sadly not the Adonis of my dreams! I got the impression he found me attractive, but sadly it was not reciprocated. But I’m so happy we met.

His verdict

IT was fun. When our blindfolds came off I feel we were pleasantly surprised. She’s a nice-looking woman and I think she was relieved I had hair and was not fat! But there was a spark missing. We liked one another, but there was no chemistry. I still hope we stay in touch.
