GUNS N' Roses star Steven Adler has been hospitalised after reportedly stabbing himself in the stomach.
The band's former drummer, 54, was rushed to a hospital on Thursday night, following reports that a man had stabbed himself at his LA home, says TMZ.
Cops told the website that someone phoned emergency services from Adler's Studio City home shortly after 6.30pm.
They said that someone had stabbed themselves.
When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found Adler suffering stab wounds to his abdomen, it was reported.
Adler was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No one else was reported to have been involved in the stabbing.
Adler, who started his musical career after finishing school, boasts an estimated net worth of £13.4million ($17m), according to .
He bought his English-country-style home, with views of the mountains, for more than £1million ($1,377,500) four years ago, reports LA Times.
In 2015 Adler released a collection of artwork to mark three decades of drumming.
WILD TIMES
In 2004, wrote about the volatile Guns N' Roses, saying that while the band lived in a rehearsal area, “in near poverty, the group dealt drugs, ate seldom, drank vagrant’s choice Night Train wine, and had sex with women willing to overlook their obviously shortcomings for their lure of their charisma.”
In its early days, the rock act was so “raw and unpalatable to mainstream venues that they booked shows in strip clubs.”
Guns N’ Roses were labelled the most dangerous group in the world thanks to their wild, drug-fuelled lives and concert brawls.
Drummer and co-songwriter Adler was the first to be kicked out the band.
His addictions were so disruptive he had to sign a contract agreeing not to take any more heroin.
But he failed to live up to it and was fired in 1990.
In one drunk episode he hit a streetlight and broke his hand.
The former sex symbol speaks with a speech impediment, the result of a stroke he suffered in 1996 caused by an overdose of heroin and cocaine.
His heroin addiction – and fight to overcome it – featured on TV show Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew in 2008 and 2011.
Adler has faced a long battle to get clean of drugs and booze.
In an interview with Rukus magazine eight years ago, Adler said he felt that "you get stronger after surviving s*** like that [drugs].
"Right now, I'm the happiest I have been in my whole life but I don't think I'd be happier than I am right now if I hadn't ruined 20 years of my life either."
But, after a few years' sober, he suffered a relapse four years ago and postponed a tour for his band Adler's Appetite, due to a spell in rehab.
Since then, Adler has turned to art and produced work for his own show.
Describing his art, he said: “I’m the canvas and the painter.”
BESTSELLING AUTHOR
Adler became a bestselling author, penning about his hard life - and grappling with sobriety - in “My Appetite for Destruction: Sex & Drugs & guns N’ Roses”.
The book, released in 2011, includes the financial ruin he faced after being kicked out of Guns N' Roses, along with health problems that almost claimed his life several times.
These include two heart attacks, a suicide attempt, debilitating stroke, and 20-year-long addiction to crack and heroin.
FANS' SHOCK
Adler has recently been promoting an upcoming gig at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas on July 12.
The luxury hotel and casino hasn’t referred to the stabbing incident on its website, where it is still advertising tickets to see a "hard-rocking lifer who loves being a rock star".
Shocked fans have been posting supportive messages on the star’s Instagram account and Facebook page, telling him to “stay strong” and “get well soon”.
UK-based Miranda Thibbaut posted “keep rocking, get well soon Steven. You are talented and lovely.”
