AN ex-bouncer spoke out about the "insane strength" of the crazed Jet2 passenger who allegedly tried to prise open an aeroplane door mid-flight.

Steven Brown, 58, who grabbed the "possessed" passenger and wrestled her to the floor, likened her erratic behaviour to "someone who had taken acid".

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Steven, from Romford, spoke out about his terrifying ordeal: "She bolted to the front of the plane and threw one stewardess from one side of the aisle to the other. Another was clinging onto her but lost her grip and the woman ran towards the door.

"She was punching, kicking and screaming at the stewards, they were trying to stop her but they had no chance.

"She was only petite but she had the strength of a fully-grown man. The only time I've seen anything like that was when someone had just dropped acid, she had super strength.

"It was like she was possessed."

The flight was heading from London Stanstead airport to Dalaman, Turkey.

Steven, who now works for the London Underground, grabbed the woman and tackled her to the floor. Other passengers restrained her arms and legs as she lashed out.

I honestly thought that was it, I thought we were going out of that door.

"After we had her on the floor we thought she had calmed down, so we let her up and that would be the end of it. But she got up and bolted for the door.

"She had ripped the plastic cover off the door and grabbed the handle screamed that she wanted to die and wanted to kill everyone.

"I honestly thought that was it, I thought we were going out of that door.

"I thought that me and the other stewards that were trying to stop her were all going to be sucked out of that plane. The staff looked absolutely terrified as they watched her rip the handle off.

Children that were sat by the chaos were moved, most of them screaming and in tears as the fight broke out.

The 25-year-old woman was seen by Steven at the airport before the flight.

She was travelling with her nan, who was in a wheelchair and seemed fine, according to the 58-year-old.

Two RAF Typhoon fighters were scrambled to intercept the Airbus 321 - creating a sonic boom heard 40 miles away in their race to escort the plane back to Stansted Airport .

Steven said that the drama broke out before the plane had left the runway and has since blasted the company for taking off, despite being aware of the situation.

"The stewards at the back of the plane made a call to the front of the plane and told the head steward that we needed to stop, but the head said it was too late.

"He could have told the captain to stop, instead they waited until we were 30,000 feet in the air."

Another passenger, Amy Varol who was sat two rows behind the woman said: "She kept getting up and running back towards the door.

"She had six people sitting on her. We had to fly back to Stansted for the police to get her.

"She kept singing songs and screaming she’s gonna kill us, 'I want to get off', 'I’m gonna f****** hit you' 'f***** come on then'.

"I was terrified. There’s nothing you can do, you can’t escape."

A Jet2 spokesman said: “Two RAF Typhoon fighters were scrambled to escort a Jet2.com aircraft on the evening of Saturday 22nd June, after an extremely disruptive passenger’s behaviour went as far as attempting to open the aircraft doors during the flight.

"In their rush to escort the aircraft, which was supposed to be heading from London Stansted to Dalaman but had returned to base because of this appalling and dangerous behaviour, the fighter jets created a sonic boom which could be heard for miles around.

We are now liaising with the relevant authorities to support their investigation, and we will not hesitate to prosecute.

Jet2 spokesperson

"Our aircraft landed safely at London Stansted Airport, where airport police boarded to arrest a 25-year-old woman on suspicion of assault and endangering an aircraft.

"We are now liaising with the relevant authorities to support their investigation, and we will not hesitate to prosecute. For years we have been highlighting just how serious the consequences of disruptive passenger behaviour can be.

"These consequences include huge fines, lifetime bans and court action. They now also include the authorities having to scramble fighter jets to escort commercial aircraft, proof that this behaviour must stop now.

"We would like to thank the highly trained crew for their professionalism in handling this incident, which included having to restrain the passenger. We would also like to thank customers who assisted on board the flight, as well the police at London Stansted Airport.

"Finally, as a family friendly airline we would like to apologise to any customers who were affected by this outrageous and deplorable behaviour."

POSSESSED

Many people living near Stansted phoned police to report a loud noise they though could be an explosion.

One man described the noise as a "huge bang" which "nearly blew my window out".

Twitter users said their windows rattled and tellys shook as far away as Chelmsford 18 miles away and even Ilford in East London, around 40 miles from the airport.

A Royal Air Force spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that RAF quick reaction alert Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby scrambled to escort a commercial flight into Standard shortly after take-off due to reports of a disruptive passenger.”

Essex Police said: "A woman arrested at Stansted Airport over the weekend has since been released on bail.

"The 25-year-old, from Maidenhead in Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and endangering an aircraft.
