Bachelor star Melissa Rycroft sick with unknown illness on Dominican Republic holiday days after NINTH mystery death on Carribean Island
BACHELOR star Melissa Rycroft has fallen ill and is suffering from "major stomach issues" after returning from the Dominican Republic.
The mum-of-three, 36, from Dallas, Texas, was pictured last week on the Caribbean island where a least nine US tourists have died in the past year from a mysterious illness.
Melissa was described as “really sick” by an insider after her stay at the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana, reports.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant posted a picture of herself in a doctor's clinic revealing she had been put on a liquid diet in an attempt to starve the mystery bug.
She said: "After a really rough week, I have been put on a liquid diet, and given meds for my severe cramping. Fingers crossed this goes away in 3 days - doc says next step is a Parasite test..."
A rep for the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader explained that she “has had major stomach issues since returning from the Dominican Republic.”
STOMACH CRAMPS
“She got an upset stomach on the second day of vacation, but it passed. Once they came home, she got severe cramping,” the rep said.
“It has lasted for over a week, and she’s currently getting tested for possible parasites and any other infections.
“She’s assuming it’s something foodborne, but no one else in her family is ill.”
On Tuesday, Tracy McCraw, of Madison, Mississippi, told The Post that she was on a flight full of sick passengers on her way home from Punta Cana.
MYSTERY ILLNESS
“It wasn’t like you usually go on a plane and you’re leaving and see other people sick on the plane.
There was one lady next to me who was all bundled up, and I could tell she was sick. It was obvious.”
McCraw also said she fell ill.
“It wasn’t like a stomach virus, and I’ve had the stomach virus and food poisoning before,” she said.
A group of Oklahoma teens also fell ill while vacationing in the resort town.

Skylar Martin married her husband Derek on June 8 and headed to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana the following week, reports NBC 12.
But after having dinner at the resort’s Japanese restaurant, Skylar fell ill with “extreme vomiting”.
She told NBC that doctors found she had a “bacterial blood infection” which caused her to drift “in and out of consciousness” before she was rushed to hospital.
