Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law David Matthews, 75, is no longer being investigated over rape allegation
COPS investigating a rape allegation against Pippa Middleton’s father-in-law have dropped the inquiry.
David Matthews, 75, is understood to have been informed that South Yorkshire Police will take no further against against him.
But the tycoon - dad to Pippa’s husband James, 43, and I’m A Celeb star Spencer, 30 - still faces a second rape probe in France.
The British woman, who made the historic claims against him to police last year, is said to be “disappointed” by the decision to drop her case.
A source said: “She is very upset. Police have been very supportive but have told her they can’t prosecute him.”
The woman, now aged in her 60s, alleged the rape occurred in Sheffield in the 1980s.
Mr Matthews has strenuously denied all allegations.
South Yorkshire Police said they could not comment on the case.
But the multi-millionaire - now a grandfather - still faces a possible trial in France where prosecutors are continuing to examine claims that he forced himself on a minor.
He has been accused of two offences between 1998 and 1999 by a woman now in her 30s.
