Football coach Bob Higgins jailed for sexually abusing schoolboy players
PERVERT football coach Bob Higgins was jailed for over 24 years yesterday for sexually abusing schoolboy players.
Higgins, 66, who worked at Southampton and Peterborough, was called “predatory, cunning and manipulative” by Judge Peter Crabtree.
The judge said his victims had idolised him but he had shown “not one jot of remorse”.
Sentencing him to 24 years and three months, he added: “You encouraged many of them to treat you as a father figure. For a number of boys who were brought up without a father and were vulnerable, this had a profound effect.”
Higgins, of Southampton, was convicted last month of 46 indecent assaults on 24 boys in an evil 25-year campaign from 1971 to 1996.
Victims told Winchester crown court he “created a conveyor belt of abuse”.
