‘Dobby’ viral video – Web sleuths claim they’ve cracked CCTV mystery with bizarre theory as expert says footage has NOT been doctored
A MYSTERIOUS elf-like creature spotted on CCTV footage wandering outside a woman's home could have been identified by internet sleuths.
They have come up with answers by analysing the surveillance footage which sent the internet into a spin last week.

Vivian Gomez, a mother of a nine-year-old boy, was left stunned when her CCTV captured a bizarre creature - which looked like Dobby the Elf from the Harry Potter films - outside her home.
Gomez uploaded the footage and said the creature was "frolicking" in the night and "stopped at the front of the car and then did a little dance" on her driveway in Colorado Springs.
She shared the clip on Facebook, writing: “First I saw the shadow walking from my front door then I saw this thing....has anyone else seen this on their cameras ... The other two cameras didn’t pick it up for some reason."
But self-declared experts have said they are certain the footage had not been doctored with computer trickery.
And some web sleuths claimed they had the answer to the mystery.
They claimed the creature was most likely a skinny child wearing flip-flops and pants on their head.
In an interview with , Gomez admitted her son, Bobby, "likes to joke around" and "loves to dance".

When asked whether the creature could be her son, Gomez replied: "No ... I wouldn't let him out at dark by himself."
She also said none of the neighbourhood children looked anything like the creature.
Whatever the explanation, many Potter fans were eager to celebrate a possible return of Dobby, as the beloved character tragically died in the sixth film Deathly Hallows.
Maury Wills wrote on Facebook: “Dobby came to make sure you are safe!”
One Twitter user then added: “Everyone’s joking that this is Dobby but I’m here deciding not to go outside at night ever again.”

Eagle-eyed Twitter users pointed out that at one stage in the video there appears to be two shadows which suggests someone could be operating an elf-like puppet.
Another explanation offered was that the weird figure was superimposed onto the footage using some clever camera trickery.
Reactions to Dobby's death were so emotional that writer JK Rowling was moved to apologise on Twitter in 2018 for killing off the "free" elf.
"This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn't die during the , but who laid down his life to save the people who'd win it. I refer, of course, to Dobby the house elf," she wrote.
