EVIL PLOT

Judge who jailed Kenneth Noye reveals gangster pals plotted to ‘nobble’ jury and kill victim’s fiancé for testifying

KENNETH Noye’s gangster pals planned to “nobble” the jury and kill the victim’s fiancé for testifying, the judge who sentenced him has revealed.

Sir David Latham sentenced Noye in 2000 for a minimum of 16 years for the 1996 killing of Stephen Cameron, 21, in a road-rage murder.

He said he would never forgive Noye for forcing Stephen’s fiancé Danielle Cable, then 17, to go into hiding for the rest of her life.

Now Cable is married with a daughter of her own but lives under an assumed identity due to fear of a revenge attack and can only see her parents twice a year.

Then Justice Latham told : “That is the thing I find it very, very difficult to forgive Noye for, that we had to do that, to that girl.

“There was clear evidence that there were threats to her life for giving evidence.

“I think Noye has friends who are really quite powerful, who were not prepared to see him get convicted

“I had evidence beforehand that there was going to be an attempt to nobble the jury but the trial, fortunately, went off without incident.”

'I CAN'T FORGIVE HIM'

Stephen died in Cable’s arms on the M25 in Swanley, Kent and she helped to identify the thug and later testified in court to put Noye away.

Cable even travelled to Spain as part of a determined bid to bring the killer to justice.

The former judge's fears come days after the Detective Superintendant who led the investigation tracking down Noye, Nick Biddiss, told the : “It turned out that Danielle’s mum was not far wrong when she said if my daughter gets involved she’s going to have her life ruined.

"That’s what’s happened. She’s still in witness protection.”

Asked if Danielle would be living in fear for the rest of her life, he said: “Yes.

"Whether it’s real, I don’t know but Kenneth Noye is a man who has got his tentacles everywhere. She was very brave in what she did.”

The Sun revealed last month that Cable, now 40, is living in fear of a revenge attack or simply just bumping into him.

Noye, now 72, was released from Standford Hill open prison on the Isle of Sheppey on June 6, this year after serving 19 years for the killing.

A family source said: “She’s had nightmares about seeing this evil man again. News he will be released is like she’s living her worst nightmare.

“She hates him for taking Stephen away from her, ruining their hopes and dreams.

“She never forgot Stephen and loved him so much. Noye’s release brings it all back as if it was yesterday.”

Stephen’s dad Ken Cameron said he should leave only “in a wooden box”.

Ken, 71 — who lives in Noye’s native Kent — vowed: “If I ever bumped into him I’d ask why he murdered my son and left him in a gutter.

“Why did he use a knife on a lad with his whole life ahead of him? He’s not been properly punished.

"He has family in Kent, he's in prison in the county and when he’s freed could easily come here.

“I pray I never see him, but if I did I’d confront him.”
