HELLO, DEE-DAY

Antiques dealer called Dee-Day who was BORN on D-Day set to turn 75 on anniversary — and named his son Dee-Day too

A MAN called Dee-Day will turn 75 on the anniversary of the Normandy Invasion.

Antiques dealer Dee-Day Rodney White was welcomed into the world on June 6, 1944 and named in honour of the pivotal allied assault on Nazi occupied France.

Dee-Day's father Bert decided on the name after hearing the phrase repeatedly on the news on his way to register the birth.

Dee-Day, from Hastings, East Sussex — whose name appears without the hyphen on his passport —  has even named his own son Dee-Day too.

He said: “Whenever I tell anyone my name, I always end up having to tell them the story.”

Dee-Day has visited Normandy ten times for previous commemorations but will miss this year’s.
