RED CARPET HYPOCRITE

Jeremy Corbyn wore white tie for state banquet for China’s Xi Jinping despite human rights record – but stayed away from Trump dinner

JEREMY Corbyn has been branded a hypocrite after he boycotted Donald Trump's state visit - despite rolling out the red carpet for China's Xi Jinping.

He dined with Mr Xi despite China's horrific record of human rights abuses.

Pictures from the 2015 Buckingham Palace feast show Mr Corbyn in formal evening dress with a tailcoat, waistcoat and white bow tie.

He enjoyed a meal of turbot followed by venison accompanied by bottle of wine worth as much as £1,000 each.

Despite his support for Mr Xi's state visit, Mr Corbyn has been an outspoken critic of the same honour being given to the US President.

Today he accused Mr Trump of spreading "hate" as he spoke at the demonstration against the state visit.

Tory MP Robert Courts blasted: "Corbyn had the opportunity to meet with Trump to have a frank exchange of views with the leader of our most important ally.

"Instead he has chosen to shout slogans to a crowd which already agrees with him."

Bob Seely added: "Labour re Trump visit = pathetic & embarrassing. They sup with one-party Communists, but turn the noses at a democratically-elected leader."

And ex-minister Priti Patel said: "Corbyn’s divisive politics of protests & placards is a reminder why he is completely unfit to lead our great nation."

As well as backing Mr Xi's state visit the Labour leader has previously held talks with extremist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
