NIGEL Farage has slammed Theresa May as the "worst prime minister in Britain's history" as he demanded her successor go for a no-deal Brexit.
The Brexit Party boss said she was never leadership material and was out of her depth from the very beginning.
In a scathing attack on her just hours after she announced she would resign within weeks, Mr Farage said the PM's legacy was one of complete failure and she was "totally unfit for the task".
"Theresa May has been the worst prime minister in Britain's history," he blasted.
"She completely misjudged the mood of the country. Her successor will fare no better unless they vow to take the UK out of the EU by Oct 31. And that's just for starters."
Her main problem was that she never believed in Brexit, and surrounded herself with Remainers too.
"This was the toxic background to her dealings with EU bully boys like Jean-Claude Juncker and Michel Barnier," he added.
The Tories now have to choose a "genuine Brexiteer" to lead the team, he said, otherwise they just wouldn't survive.
"The new leader needs to be unequivocal from their first day in the job in stating that Britain will leave the EU on Oct 31 come what may," he said.
"If they want to even begin to make their party a credible outfit again, and if they have any serious desire to win back the trust which has been squandered over the last three years, putting a no-deal Brexit back on the table is the only way to do it.
"It is no secret that Brexit Party supporters do not trust the Conservative Party any longer," he said.
";I believe that a high percentage of Brexit Party voters want to stay with us at the next general election.
";They agree with us that it is time to change politics for good."

Mr Farage didn't endorse anyone for the next Tory leader - but he did name check ex-Brexit Secretary David Davis, who has promised to back Dominic Raab.
The Brexit Party boss is set to storm the EU elections when results come in tomorrow night.
He could win the poll and get the most seats - for the election we were never meant to take part in in the first place.
