OAP accuses Conor McGregor of slapping him across the head after he snubbed MMA star’s offer of free pint
Irish police are to send a file on the alleged assault by McGregor to the Director of Public Prosecutions this week
CONOR McGregor allegedly slapped an OAP across the back of the head after he snubbed the MMA star’s offer of a free pint, the Sun can reveal.
Police are to send a file this week on the alleged assault by McGregor on the man, in his 60s, to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The Sun can reveal police have completed their probe after a complaint was made against the sports star.
It’s understood the alleged victim has accused McGregor of assaulting him after the star offered to buy everyone in the Marble Arch pub in Drimnagh, south Dublin, a drink on April 6.
The man, who is from the area, claims he was struck on the side of the head after turning down the offer.
But we can also reveal Irish cops, known as gardai, have not included any medical evidence in the file to the DPP.
Gardai have also gathered CCTV footage as part of their file.
McGregor is at the centre of Section Two Assault probe, which is the lowest form of assault.
If charged, the case would be dealt with in the District Court.
A source said: “The file is almost complete and should be making its way to the offices of the DPP sometime this week.
“A complaint and a statement have both been made and it will now be a matter for the DPP for the next course of action.”
'NO ARRESTS'
Our revelation comes after it emerged last week week McGregor had met with detectives over the allegation.
Along with his solicitor, he met with officers by appointment and has not been formally arrested over the matter.
A Garda spokesman said: “(We) are investigating an incident at a pub in Drimnagh, Dublin, on April 6. No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.”
We revealed last month how an Irish electrician who boxed Conor McGregor claims the retired UFC fighter hit him with “the cheapest shot I ever caught in me life”.
Michael McGrane took on Conor at a low-key event at Crumlin Boxing Club in south Dublin.
The amateur fighter drew his four-round fight with McGregor but claims the odds were against him.
