THE Jeremy Kyle Show has been slammed for turning killer dad Mick Philpott into a 'celebrity' before he started a deadly blaze which took the lives of six of his kids.
Dad-of-17 Philpott appeared on the ITV show in 2007 despite already having an attempted murder conviction from when he stabbed an ex-girlfriend 27 times and left her for dead.
He appeared with his wife Mairead to defend his lifestyle and demand a bigger council house in what was a ratings smash at the time for the show.
Five years later he set fire to his Derby council house in order to get a bigger one. Six of his children - Duwayne, 13, his sister Jade, ten, and brothers, John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six and Jayden, five - perished inside.
Leading criminologist and criminal profiler Paul Harrison said ITV had 'empowered' the violent criminal and inflated his ego in a way which could have led to him committing more offences.
He said: "There is one episode of the Jeremy Kyle show which stands out as what was, in my opinion, reckless.
He was also known to have mental health problems. That in itself should have alerted programme producers.

"The episode aired in 2007, and Philpott had previous convictions for violent crime, including the attempted murder of a former partner.
"He was also known to have mental health problems. That in itself should have alerted programme producers that he had issues that were not conducive to the programme's format.
"During the programme Philpott can be seen to be revelling in the limelight of his television appearance, he became boastful and arrogant and clearly felt like a celebrity as his confidence increased throughout.
"People who knew him said he changed after his television appearance, as he believed he was a celebrity and as such empowered.
"The show in my opinion should never had taken place especially so with an individual who was known for his violent outbursts and anger issues."
CALLOUS KILLER JAILED FOR LIFE
Philpott was jailed for life in April 2013. His wife Mairead Philpott and family friend Paul Mosley were each jailed for 17 years.
The trio had been convicted of six counts of manslaughter. The fire started when petrol was poured through the letterbox of the property.
Mr Dymond took a lie-detector test on May 2 to convince fiancée Jane Callaghan he had been faithful, but was told he had failed.
The couple split up and his body was found in his Portsmouth flat a week later on May 9 where he had been dead for days.
An ITV spokeswoman said The Jeremy Kyle Show had "significant and detailed duty of care processes... pre, during and post show".
