The highly coveted Motor Yacht of the Year award was scooped up by the 285ft Dar, a boat designed in the shape of a hammerhead shark worth £137.2million.
Dar boasts accommodation for 12 guests, split across six cabins, including an upper deck owner’s suite complete with a private terrace that faces over the bow and includes a superyacht spa pool.
Other star features include a private superyacht helipad, dive centre, hammam, sauna and submarine storage as part of a sprawling beach club.
Designer Luiz de Basto explained why DAR was dubbed Project Shark during construction. "The wing stations when viewed from above bear a distinct resemblance to a hammerhead shark, while the mast in profile is shaped like a fin, contrasting with the flowing rhythm of the hull below."
YACHT COMPETITION
Gongs were also awarded to swanky pleasure cruisers and magnificent explorer yachts at the sparkling event.
Commenting on the winners across 16 categories, Tony Euden, at Boat International Media, said: "We're very privileged and proud to bring the superyacht community together, year on year, to officially honour and celebrate the world's most exceptional yachts, the teams behind their creation and their owners.
"All those involved in this year's entries deserve to be highlighted for their outstanding work and the winners should be immensely proud of their successes."
