David Cameron will finally hit back at his legion of critics over Brexit this September when he publishes his long-delayed autobiography.
In an explosive intervention, the ex PM is bringing out his tell-all memoirs, pointedly titled “For The Record”, the week before the Tory party conference.
Mr Cameron will reveal in “intimate and frank” detail what really went on in No10 when he decided to call the EU referendum, his publishers said. His book will lob a hand grenade into the Brexit debate just when Tory leadership contenders scramble to woo the grassroots at their annual get-together.
Mr Cameron has repeatedly delayed publishing the book after promising Theresa May he would not “rock the boat” while she was trying to negotiate Brexit.
But he finally announced the date yesterday after Mrs May agreed to set out a timetable to quit at the end of June in a crunch showdown with party bosses.
Publishers Harper Collins said: “He will provide, for the first time, his perspective on the EU referendum and his views on the future of Britain’s place in the world in the light of Brexit.
“Revealing the battles and achievements of his life and career in intimate and frank detail, For the Record will be an important assessment of the significant political events of the last decade, the nature of power
and the role of leadership at a time of profound global change.”
Mr Cameron has become one of Britain’s most controversial Prime Ministers after calling the referendum and quitting No10 just hours after he lost it.
He has largely stayed away from the political limelight since then to give Mrs May a clear run to negotiate Brexit.
Mr Cameron has been penning his memoirs in a flash £25,000 designer shepherd’s hut plonked at the end of his garden.
The posh shed includes a wood burning stove, sofa bed and sheep’s wool insulation.
Revelations of his luxury man cave sparked widespread mockery among pundits.

The shed is nestled next to Mr Cameron’s latest luxury addition to his garden – an £8,000 hot tub.
The Sun exclusively revealed earlier this month that the ex PM had splashed out on the fresh-water and wood-fired Jacuzzi.
Mr Cameron - well-known for his love of “chillaxing” – had it installed in the garden of his Cornish clifftop home.
