Mum left paralysed after swimming pool accident on Magaluf hen do sues for £9m compensation
Bonnie Lackey, 41, from Crawley, West Sussex, was left unable to walk
A WOMAN paralysed in a horrific hen do incident has launched a legal bid for £9million compensation.
Bonnie Lackey, 41, was upended while sitting in a rubber ring when a pool wave machine was switched on during her cousin’s trip to Magaluf.
The mum, from Crawley, West Sussex, has spinal damage and is quadriplegic after the incident in Majorca, in 2017.A private air ambulance was needed to bring her back from Spain.
She bravely attended her cousin's wedding in a wheelchair months later.
Bonnie has two children and was left needing 24/7 care.
The High Court has given her permission to sue BH Mallorca Hotel through British courts.
When Bonnie had fallen off the rubber ring, she’d broken three bones in her neck and seriously damaged her spinal cord. Her paralysis was permanent.
Her home required more than £60,000 of home improvements to make it accessible.
She told The Sun last year: "I landed face down in the water and couldn’t understand why my arms and legs weren’t doing what I wanted them to.
"I tried lifting my head out of the water but that didn’t work either. I held my breath and desperately waited for somebody to notice.
"It felt like an eternity, but it must have been less than a minute when I was pulled out of the water.
"I told them I couldn’t feel anything, and we all knew it was really serious.”
"I wish I’d never got in that wave pool, but I can’t change that. I can only hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, but I worry that it will."
