Mum of teen football star targeted in ‘acid attack’ reveals she’s ‘just so happy he’s alive’ as he returns home to recover from burns
Irish U17 star Tega Agberhiere feared he would never see again and is now making weekly trips to the burns unit in Cork University Hospital and more closer to home in Waterford
THE mum of a teenage football star targeted in an 'acid attack' has said she's 'just so happy he's alive'.
Tega Agberhiere was allowed to return home from last weekend after he and some friends were hit with what police described as a "corrosive substance".
The 16-year-old was out in on Thursday April 25, when he and pals were attacked by a gang of youths.

The attack saw outrage across the country as people condemned the vicious act.
Tega previously said he feared he would never see again afterwards .
The Irish U17 footballer is now recovering at home with his mum Christie and dad Peter and his two brothers.
'MY MIRACLE'
Christie said: "I am just so happy he is alive. It is my joy today that he is alive, he can see and he is here.
"All the prayers were not in vain, I know all over Waterford and Ireland people were praying and it is working.
"I call it my miracle and it has made me more faithful. Even the way it is healing is going well.
"I just want him to be alright and return to his routine and football and his Leaving Cert so he can play for football and college like other people his age."
JUSTICE
And his mum told the Irish Sun that she just wants to see justice for her son.
She said: "The told us when the four lads were initially arrested. They were held and released and a file was sent to the DPP.
"We are now just waiting for the feedback from the DPP. I am concentrating on getting my son well but I just want justice to be done.
"For now, my main concern is him getting well, and his face healing but they need to face justice for what they did.

"Every mother would be angry for what they did to my son but it is not going to change anything. I am not looking back, just forward and helping to get my son better."
Christie said Tega is at home recovering, but makes weekly trips to the burns unit in Cork University Hospital and more closer to home in Waterford.
