Oxford crown court heard Mr Farquhar wrote: “A knife is the wedding ring of brotherhood.

“It is one of the happiest moments of my life.”

Field and pal Martyn Smith, 32, of Redruth, Cornwall, are accused of feeding the OAP psychedelic drugs on his toast in a bid to get his home in Maids Moreton, Bucks.

The pair deny murder and trying to murder neighbour Ann Moore-Martin, 83, who Field, of Olney, Bucks, was also in a sexual relationship with.

The trial continues.
