Madonna defends Michael Jackson over sex abuse claims as she becomes latest celeb to demand accusers ‘prove’ allegations

The megastar, now 60, who was good friends with the late King of Pop admitted she hadn’t seen the Leaving Neverland documentary

POP star Madonna has broken her silence over sex abuse allegations about her pal Michael Jackson, saying "people are innocent until proven guilty".

In a bombshell documentary, James Safechuck and Wade Robson alleged they were sexually abused as kids by the King of Pop after he befriended them.

: “What do people want out of this?

“Are there people asking for money, is there some kind of extortion thing happening?

“I would take all those things into consideration.”

“I don't have a lynch mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty.

"I've had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true.

“So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, 'Can you prove it?'"

Megastars Madonna and Jackson, who shot to fame during the same period, went to the Academy Awards together in 1991.

She later called it the "best date ever" and revealed the pair had shared a passionate kiss.

Jackson, who died of a drugs overdose in 2009 aged 50, denied all child abuse allegations and was acquitted of molestation charges in 2005.

Brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie, and his nephew Taj, have dismissed the allegations against the late singer.

His estate has also slammed Leaving Neverland, dubbing it as a "tabloid character assassination" that the singer had "endured in life and now in death".

It picks holes in the ­stories of Robson and Safechuck, who claimed Jackson sexually abused them.

Barbra Streisand and Boy George have spoken out in defence of him.

Jackson’s ex-bodyguard Matt Fiddes has also revealed he is among defenders, which, includes the star’s pal Mark Lester and Jacko biographer Mike Smallcombe.
