Theresa May warned that Tory members are plotting a confidence vote against her
The result of the vote will increase pressure on the Prime Minister to quit
PRIME Minster Theresa May has been given a new warning that Tories are turning against her – with members of the party plotting a confidence vote in her next month.
Mrs May could be ousted from her post as Andrew Sharpe, the chairman of grassroots National Conservative Convention, will announce that an Extraordinary General Meeting will be held on June 15.
The result of the vote will not be binding, but it will mount pressure on Mrs May to quit.
The move comes as Mrs May announced that she wants to sign off on a cross-party agreement with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn which has angered backbenchers.
Senior sources in the Tory party have claimed that she will be “gone very quickly” if she works with Labour’s demands for a post-Brexit customs union with the EU.
