New penguin enclosure delayed by three months because the birds were too randy to be safely moved in

A NEW penguin enclosure was delayed by three months because the birds were too randy to be safely moved in.
The group of 14 Humboldt penguins were moved out of the in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, in January while a new pen was built.
They were due to stay at the sister centre in Scarborough, North Yorks, four weeks.
But they remained an extra three months because they started nesting and breeding in the warm spring weather.
Experts feared they would suffer emotional distress if there was a big change during mating.
The love birds have now made it back to Great Yarmouth after the non-stop mating settled down. One friskier pair stayed behind.

A Sea Life spokesman said: “The passionate penguins were meant to be housed in Scarborough for a brief period from January 14 while their enclosure in Great Yarmouth was remodelled.
“However, they began breeding and nesting earlier than expected, forcing staff to leave them to take an extended romantic holiday for their own safety.”
None of the penguins has laid eggs but the new enclosure has upgraded nesting boxes and the centre is hoping for some chicks.
