GHOST hunter Lorraine Warren has peacefully passed away at her home at the age of 92.

Who was Lorraine Warren?

Lorraine Warren has died at the age of 92.

She inspired the Conjuring horror franchise, and is known for leading paranormal investigations with her husband Ed.

Warren died peacefully earlier this week "quietly and peacefully" according to her grandson Chris.

He said: "Last night my grandmother, Lorraine Warren, quietly and peacefully left us to join her beloved Ed. She was happy and laughing until the very end."

Who was her husband?

Warren and husband Ed Warren Miney, who passed away in 2006, shot to fame for their world-renowned paranormal investigations which formed the basis to the horror film franchise.

She was born on January 31, 1927, and Ed investigated a number of paranormal cases.

One case which gave them worldwide acclaim was in Amityville, New York that later inspired the 1977 book The Amityville Horror.

Lorraine's character in the Conjuring investigated a haunted Rhode Island farmhouse.

The couple also created a museum featuring haunted objects they kept from probes including the real Annabelle doll.

Edward was a World War II United States Navy veteran and former police officer who became a self-taught and self-professed demonologist.
