A TEEN obsessed with the Columbine massacre has killed herself after running around naked with a shotgun and making chilling threats to the school.

Sol Pais, 18, was discovered dead from a reported self-inflicted gunshot just outside Denver after she vanished just days before the 20th anniversary of the school's bloody massacre.

Nearly 30 armed cops swooped on the area after horrified witnesses claimed the teenager was running naked through the woods with a gun.

They had frantically been searching for Pais after she flew from Miami to Denver on Monday loaded up with a pump-action shotgun and ammunition.

Schools were placed in lockdown and half a million students were forced to stay home as the manhunt was launched.

OBSESSED WITH MASSACRE

She is said to be obsessed with the April 1999 Columbine school shooting, according to

That massacre, which took place exactly 20 years ago on Saturday, saw 12 students and a teacher killed by evil pupils Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris before they turned the guns on themselves.

The FBI were last night searching Pais' family home in south Florida - where her desperate father had pleaded with her to come home.

Gardi Pais, 58, who had not seen his daughter since Sunday, told that she was suffering from "mental problems".

He added: "They are looking for her. We don’t have any idea."

The FBI Denver Division and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office had warned the public not to approach Pais as she was "dangerous".

'IT'S A CREDIBLE THREAT'

Mike Taplin, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, said the threats were not directed to a specific school.

Jenny Fulton, a spokeswoman with the sheriff's office, said: "It's a credible threat, but she did not make it directly."

As a result of the threats, Columbine High School and nearly 20 other schools were put on lockdown.

School officials said the doors were locked but classes continued.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said deputies were at the schools involved.

A lockdown is a response to a threat directly to the school or in the surrounding community - no one is allowed to enter or leave the buildings on campus.

SCHOOLS ON LOCKDOWN

Diana Wilson, a Jefferson County Schools spokeswoman, said: "Everyone is safe. We will have extra safety and security staff on site at all schools affected.

"All after-school activities, sports, and practices will occur as scheduled EXCEPT for Columbine High School where all such activities are cancelled."

Police are searching for an armed woman in connection with alleged threats resulting in lockouts at nearly 20 Colorado high schools

On April 20, 1999, students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered 12 students and one teacher when they opened fire at Columbine High School.

A vigil and community service day are some of the remembrance events that will be held this week.
