A FIVE-minute iPad test could detect dementia years before sufferers show any symptoms.
Participants are asked which of 100 images flashed on screen contain an animal.
Of those that do, some are obvious while others are harder to spot. Experts say earlier diagnosis can lead to more effective treatment.
And the test, which can be sat at home without medical supervision, could also cut the number of “worried well” people sent for scans.
The first picture does not contain an animal, the second and third do.
It is being trialled by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Next month it will be used in North East London, Sussex and Devon with a potential national roll-out next year.
It has been developed by medical technology company Cognetivity.
Chief executive Sina Habibi said: “Every image is different in terms of complexity.”
