Holly Valance’s property tycoon husband Nick Candy faces £1.5BILLION High Court battle over Hyde Park penthouse – but brands row ‘pure fiction’

PROPERTY tycoon Nick Candy faces a £1.5billion High Court battle over the sale of his stunning Hyde Park penthouse.

The entrepreneur, who is married to popstar Holly Valance, is being dragged to court by company director Michael Brown.

He claims he was asked by Mr Candy to sell the penthouse at One Hyde Park - the most expensive flat in Britain - for £175million, reports.

Mr Brown adds: "Mr Candy was very concerned with getting this affair sorted after calling me for weeks on end, pleading for help to put arrangements in place which would result in the sale to my clients from the Saudi royal family and the House of Saud."

The director has named Nick Candy as the first among a number of defendants and has claimed "malicious sabotage", which isn't recognised in English law.

He has also hit out at the "wanton and indecorous and imbecilic behaviours" by a member of the Qatari royal family.

'PURE FICTION'

But Mr Candy's representatives have branded the claim "pure fiction" and are certain it will be thrown out at a "strike out" hearing next month.

A spokesperson told Sun Online: "The alleged potential purchaser never visited One Hyde Park or the penthouse and the penthouse was never sold to Mr Brown’s supposed client and therefore no financial loss can be claimed.

"This appears to be a 'hoax' claim and an attempted shakedown by Mr Brown in order to elicit a nuisance payment from the defendants."

It was revealed in October that the penthouse had become Britain's most expensive home after being remortgaged using an £80million loan by Mr Candy.

MOST EXPENSIVE HOME IN UK

Mr Candy had lived at the house with his wife the singer and actress Holly Valance, but the pair have now moved a few streets away to the luxury Providence House in Chelsea.

It boasts heated marble floors and a walk-in wardrobe - as well as a 21-metre pool, a cinema and even a library.

One Hyde Park, which overlooks London's Knightsbridge and Hyde Park, was designed by Richard Rogers at Rogers, Stirk, Harbour and Partners.

It opened in 2011 with flats and is made up of 86 apartments commanding a record-breaking price of up to £7,000 per square foot.

The interior was designed by Candy & Candy — the firm set up by Nick and Christian from just a £6,000 family loan in 1995 and now solely run by Nick.

The building is guarded around the clock by SAS-trained security and serviced by an in-house maid service.

Residents can also enjoy dry cleaning and room service provided by the five-star Mandarin hotel next door — and personal temperature-controlled wine store.

Saunas, steam rooms, a squash court and the cinema also make up the development's "unmatched leisure and entertainment facilities".
