ACCUSED R Kelly is on the verge of a breakdown and is writing new music to keep himself sane, US reports claim.
The R&B superstar - facing ten sex charges - is holed up in his £10million apartment in Trump Tower after being released from jail at the weekend.
Sources the I Believe I Can Fly singer has been focusing on producing new music - which he sees as "a form of therapy".
People close to him are said to fear he is "on the edge" over his mounting legal battles and if he stops writing he could have a breakdown.
The star - dropped by record label Sony - is working on private music projects at his lavish skyscraper flat after being evicted from his studio in Chicago, which he allegedly used as a "sex den".
Kelly walked from jail on Saturday after a "benefactor" coughed up the £123,000 he owed his ex-wife in child support.
Outside the prison he vowed to "straighten out" his money woes and growing sex abuse investigations.
He has been charged with aggravated sexual assaults on three underage girls and a woman.
And federal investigators are now said to be probing claims he transported underage girls across state boundaries "for the purpose of sex or debauchery".
Last week Kelly, 52, sobbed and screamed and appeared to be restrained in a blockbuster CBS TV interview.
He tearfully denied keeping sex slaves and also accused his ex-wife Drea of "destroying my name".
Body language expert Judi James said he was overwhelmed by a state of "aggressive arousal" and lost control of his emotions.
She said of the interview: "Overall we seem to see a man turned almost inside out by his emotions, someone who appeared to start with the objective of being calm and rational but who became overwhelmed and apparently unable to control his responses.
"The way the aggressive arousal builds and we see signs like self-hitting, the voice rising to a scream and of course the copious tears hints that he really did ‘lose it’ rather than keeping to any planned response."
Yesterday we reported Kelly threatened to share explicit texts and medical details of a woman suing him for allegedly giving her an STD.
