A LAWYER who represented R Kelly during his 2008 child porn trial said the singer needed libido suppressing drugs and was “guilty as hell” of the charges in that case.

Kelly was acquitted of all 14 counts in relation to charges of making 27 minute sex tape with an underage girl after going on trial in Florida.

The 52-year-old singer was back in court last month when he was charged with ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse on underage girls.

Ed Genson - who was on his Kelly’s defence team in 2008 - said of his former client: “He was guilty as hell.”

The 77-year-old, who is terminally ill with bile duct cancer, Kelly didn’t do “anything inappropriate for years” because of medication he arranged for him.

“I’ll tell you a secret - I had him go to a doctor to get shots, libido-killing shots. That’s why he didn’t get arrested for anything else.”

Grenson admitted that: “I did facilitate him in the sense I kept him out of trouble for 10 years.

“I was vetting his records. I listened to them, which ones would make a judge mad.”

Genson said he knew Kelly was attracted to young girls because of lyrics he prevented Kelly from using.

He revealed that he had to get Kelly to change his song lyrics to keep him out of trouble.

“I was riding in the car, listening to a song and said, ‘Are you crazy? This is all I need’,” he said

He described Kelly as a talented song writer but “not a very bright person” who might have become reckless after his 2008 acquittal.

The singer is now facing charges involving four women - including three who were underage at the time.

He spent three nights in a Chicago prison last month after failing to come up with $100,000 bail.

A lawyer for the Grammy-winner — who has sold 30million albums — said at the time he "really doesn't have any more money" after hangers-on mismanaged his finances.

And last this week he was hauled back to jail hours after the first part of his bizarre CBS interview on the sex allegations was broadcast.

Kelly used the controversial interview to protest his innocence.

At one point he appeared to be physically restrained as he loomed over TV host Gayle King and yelled “I’m fighting for my f***ing life”.

He has accused the alleged victims of lying and added: "I have been assassinated. I have been buried alive. But I'm alive."

Two of his live-in girlfriends also appeared on the CBS to defend him.
