The Sun’s top-notch journalism recognised by media bigwigs with string of nominations for the British Press Awards

The Sun’s top-notch journalism has been recognised by media bigwigs after the daily paper, The Sun on Sunday and our website were all shortlisted for the biggest prizes at the British Press Awards, the industry Oscars.

Alongside the marquee awards, a number of Sun and Sun on Sunday staff received individual nominations.

Columnist and interviewer Jane Moore received three nominations for breaking the news that Dame Barbara Windsor has Alzheimers, her sit-downs with the stars and for her weekly column.

Political Editor Tom Newton Dunn also received two nods, for Political Reporter of the Year and Popular Interviewer of the Year for his explosive chat with President Donald Trump.

TV Editor Andy Halls is nominated for Showbiz Reporter of the Year, and Chief Reporter Tom Wells’ exclusive revelation that black cab rapist John Worboys was to be freed is nominated for Scoop of the Year.

Defence Editor David Willetts’ Ministry of Defence exclusives and Sports Photographer Richard Pelham’s snaps were also recognised in their respective categories.

Reporter Paul Sims’ exclusive on Ant McPartlin’s new love is also nominated for scoop of the year.

On our brilliant Sunday paper, Clemmie Moodie has also been recognised in the showbiz category.

Online, Deborah James – who has written for The Sun about her fight with cancer - was also nominated for Columnist of the Year.

The industry gongs, organised by the Society of Editors, will be dished out at a central London ceremony on April 2nd.
