Begum, who gave birth yesterday, has become the subject of a seething national debate over whether she should be allowed to return.

She fled from Bethnal Green in London along with two others in 2015 and was recently found living in a refugee camp in Syria.

Begum said she wanted to return to Britain to live with her child and has asked for clemency.

Now the two cricketing legends, who both played in the national team between 1999 and 2002, have gone toe-to-toe online over the heated issue.

Former England captain Vaughan tweeted: "Sometimes laws and rules have to be broken...

"No way this country should allow Shamima Begum back into this country."

But Strictly Come Dancing star Ramprakash replied: "Is that laws and rules when it suits your point of view?

"A dangerous road to go down!"

But when Vaughan asked if he would let Begum come back to Britain, Ramprakash wrote: "You insinuated that laws and rules be broken Michael, who decides when that should happen?

"It leads to anarchy, is this what you are advocating?"

Incensed, Vaughan wrote: "I think every case like this one should be treated as individual cases...

"And on this occasion with what decided to do four [years] ago I wouldn't let her back.

"What would you? Let her come back?"

Ramprakash blasted back: "Every case should be individual.

";You moved from the particular to the general saying you can break laws when it suits you.
