Malthouse, who has united warring Tories with a Brexit plan, ensured the lady was in the recovery position after collapsing in the street.

The frightening incident happened on Thursday afternoon in Holborn, central London, as Mr Malthouse was on his way to an appointment within his housing brief.

One source added: “It was paramount the woman was helped – there can be no compromise in those situations.”

A Tory insider added: “Not content with attempting to save all our jobs, Kit is now saving people’s lives. The man is a legend.”

Malthouse was first elected to Parliament in 2015 after working with Boris Johnson as a Deputy Mayor.

He has brought together Brexiteers and remain-backing MPs including Jacob Rees-Mogg and Nicky Morgan with a plan to re-work the Irish backstop and a standstill period after leaving the EU until 2021.
