Jeremy Corbyn has been warned group of twelve MPs are ‘ready to leave’ amid anti-Semitism row
They are furious at Mr Corbyn's handling of Brexit and issues such as anti-Semitism and foreign policy, says John Woodcock
JEREMY Corbyn has been warned that a group of Labour MPs are on the verge of “bursting the dam” by quitting.
John Woodcock has spoken to key figures in the breakaway group amindst speculation up to a dozen MPs could leave the party.
They are furious at Mr Corbyn’s handling of Brexit and other key issues including anti-Semitism and foreign policy.
Woodcock said: “They have been wrestling with their conscience for a long time. I believe at some point the dam will burst. Personally, I hope it is sooner rather than later.
“I remain confident that actually there will be an alternative offer for people at the general election. I look at so many of my colleagues in the Labour party.
“They know that Jeremy Corbyn is simply not fit to be PM on grounds of national security, on grounds of competence and the awful problem of anti-Semitism in the party.”
Woodcock quit the Labour party in July last year after saying a disciplinary case against him was rigged.
A probe was launched after allegations – that he denies – about him sending inappropriate text messages to a female ex-aide.

Speaking about a new party to BBC North West Tonight, Woodcock said: “I think the British people are crying out for something new.
He added: “With the Brexit mess with so many other pressing issues in the country that none of the parties are showing themselves up to facing up to the magnitude of. So bring it on.”
