Fraudster posing as a cosmetic surgeon gave bogus injections to patients in the UK
A British woman told how Matteo Politi injected her with lip fillers after he conned her using snaps of him in operating theatres
A FAKE cosmetic surgeon nicked over ops in Romania also practised here, it has emerged.
Matteo Politi, 38, posed as a Brit medic for at least ten procedures there — despite never finishing high school.
Now a UK woman has told how he gave her lip jabs after conning her with snaps of him in op theatres. Personal trainer Melek Stevens, 39, who met him at a London gym, said yesterday: “He spent half an hour giving me injections in my home.
“He left with £200, saying my looks would improve dramatically. But it made no difference.
“I never saw him again. I feel a fool. I’m sure I’m not the only one he worked on in London.
“I’m lucky I didn’t get an infection that could have ruined my looks or even killed me. He deserves punishment.”
The Italian is feared to have worked here under the alias Matthew Mode. A LinkedIn profile claims he ran a clinic.
Checks show he lived in Stratford, East London, in late 2017.
He fled to Romania after reportedly being convicted of ID theft in Italy in 2011.
Using fake papers, he worked in four hospitals and gave lectures in capital Bucharest. Staff grew wary when he struggled to don gloves or wash hands properly before ops. He was seized trying to flee to Hungary.
The Care Quality Commission, which regulates the UK industry, will probe and pass details to the General Medical Council.
It said: “The suggestion he may have worked here is a concern. We’re making enquiries.”
