Donald Trump’s bizarre orange suntan result of ‘good genes’ and not dodgy sunbeds, top aide claims

White House official insists his bright colouring is all natural

PRESIDENT Donald Trump's bizarre orange suntan is the result of "good genes" and not dodgy sunbeds, a senior White House official says.

The only artificial element of the tangerine tinge was a little bit of powder – applied only for television appearances, the top aide said.

Speaking to the on condition of anonymity, the official was quick to stress Trump's preferred powder was translucent, no bronzed.

This isn’t the first time a White House official has made questionable claims about Trump's seemingly incredible genes.

When he first entered the presidency, the White House doctor said he was in incredible physical shape, despite sporting a decent amount of excess weight and admitting he didn’t exercise.

There has long since been speculation about whether the president used fake tan or sun beds.

According to former FBI director James Comey, who was sacked by the president, pale circles around Trump's eyes suggested he used protective goggles to stop the ultra-violet light from tanning bulbs blinding him.
But no such tanning bed has ever been spotted in the White House.

He looks more orangey than he does tan

But Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former aide of the president, claimed an usher was fired for mishandling the precious bed.

Tina Alster, a top dermatologist who has treated officials in the White House, suggested Trump may use tanning lotion on his skin.

Alster told the New York Times: "He looks more orangey than he does tan."

Like Mr Comey, she also mentioned the white circles under the presidents' eyes.

The new claims about good genes prompted scorn on Twitter.

On user plucked for: “#oompaloompa genes maybe”.

Can good genes make you orange?

  • Data from nearly 200,000 people showed there was a genetic link to tanning.
  • The study indicated 10 regions where DNA could give a bronzed glow.
  • Unfortunately, with parents from Scotland and Germany, Trump does not herald from these locations.
  • It is often commented that Germans have an orange glow, but this is put down to the nation being big consumers of fake tan

A Washington Post journalist tweeted that Trump complained that his skin and hair appeared too yellow or orange on screen.

She tweeted: “As a result, events in the White House are now more dimly lit than in previous administrations."

A picture of Trump’s parents was also tweeted, with the poster reflecting that neither appeared particularly orange.
