Instagram egg which smashed Kylie Jenner’s world record was cooked up by 29-year-old Brit ad exec
Chris Godfrey, from London, insists the egg campaign is not about his own life, even though it's taken him on a 'real journey'
THE Instagram egg which smashed Kylie Jenner's world record for the most liked snap on the social network was cooked up by a British ad executive.
Chris Godfrey, 29, posted the image to see if "something as universal and simple as an egg" could surpass her record-breaking photograph of baby Stormi.
The picture had the caption: “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram."
It goes on to say let’s beat “the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
In 24 hours alone, the photo clocked up almost 10million likes, pushing fans to post their congratualtions.
Since the experiment he said he's had dozens of opportunities arise, but it's also been slightly overwhelming so he has now sought the help of his friends CJ Brown and Alissa Khan-Whelan, 26, to help manage the account.
The egg now means a lot more than a social media experiment, as they want it to reveal the pressures of Instagram and mental health.
A new advert reads: "Hi, I'm the world_record_egg. (You may have heard of me.) Recently I've started to crack. If you're struggling too, talk to someone."
Chris added: "It's not really about me. It's just about the egg and sort of where we can take it and what we can do with it.
"It's what you do with that attention that counts."
