LARK-EST HOUR

Sir Winston Churchill plays with grandkids and chills in the garden in charming candid snaps

The candid snaps were taken in 1951 at Churchill's family home in Chartwell, Kent

HISTORICAL photos reveal a softer side to Sir Winston Churchill as he plays with his grandkids and spends time with his wife Clementine.

The charming candid snaps show the wartime Prime Minister enjoying time with his wife and grandkids at their family home in Chartwell, Kent in 1951 - when he had just been made PM again after a six-year absence.

It comes as Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan defended Churchill's legacy after a Green MSP described him as a “white supremacist mass murderer”.

Morgan snapped back: “You are saying the man who saved us from the Nazis is no better than a Nazi himself.”
