The parents-to-be spent the day in the city where dozens of local schools are shut because of the wintry weather and Bristol Airport closed during the morning.
Despite the freezing temperatures, Prince Harry, 34, seemed keen to chat to the kids and their teachers during the walkabout - joking: "How do you keep control of them?"
And he cheekily told the kids: "You know you guys can run wherever you like."
His pregnant wife Meghan, 37, looked glamorous today in a £1,400 Oscar de la Renta dress and William Vintage coat paired with practical calf-length boots by Sarah Flint as she chatted to eager fans.
And shaking hands with Bristol locals, she apologised: "Sorry my hands are cold".
As snow fell, she told locals: "I hope everyone has a nice cup of tea after this."
The future mum made sure to single out the kids who had waited patiently for the chance to see her and Prince Harry, 34.
She told them: "You must be so cold", adding: "Thanks for staying out here, it's so chilly today."
Meghan, who wore her hair down and forwent gloves in the cold, even called Prince Harry over to meet the nursery children in Bristol after they asked where her husband was.
And she made excuses for the couple's late arrival, saying their train had been delayed. The couple had planned to travel by helicopter but the weather was so bad they were forced to catch a train.
During their time in Bristol, Meghan and Harry also made an unannounced visit to One25 charity, an organisation that helps women break free from street sex work and addiction.
In a sweet personal touch, Meghan wrote messages of support on bananas that will be given out to the women, including notes that read: "you are strong" and "you are loved".

Meghan said: "I saw this programme this woman had started in the States on a school lunch programme when on each of the bananas she wrote an affirmation or something to make the kids feel really empowered.
"I thought it was the most incredible idea - this small gesture."
The couple also privately met a former sex worker who was helped by One25. Sam told Meghan and Harry about how she was groomed at the age of 14 into prostitution and became addicted to drugs.
The 43-year-old said afterwards: "For them to decide to come here is heartwarming and makes you think these women are not forgotten. "One25 were there for me when I had no-one. They helped me keep my children."
Sam, who has been away from the streets and drugs for 13 years, described the visit as "amazing", adding: "For the women to know that Harry and Meghan have come here, it says we do matter.
"It sounds really cheesy but it is that feeling that somebody actually cares."
Today, the couple were taken on a guided tour of the revamped Old Vic theatre, which has been entertaining audiences for more than 250 years.
Once inside, the couple also got to meet shy youngster Ocean, who commented on the duchess' cold hands.
Meghan replied: "My hands are cold? Thank you for warming them sweetie.
"Ballerina Ocean, I think you are going to be everyone's favourite person of the day."
I hope everyone has a nice cup of tea after this
MeghanSpeaking to Bristol crowds
The Bristol Old Vic was built in 1766 and has a unique place in British theatre history, having nurtured the talents of countless famous actors from Daniel Day-Lewis and Greta Scacchi to Peter O'Toole and Jeremy Irons.
Stirling Prize-winning architects Haworth Tompkins led the theatre's redesign, which includes a full-height timber and glass-fronted foyer that reveals the original auditorium facade to the street for the first time.
The internal layout has been transformed, with the restoration of the Georgian Coopers' Hall, a new studio theatre created in the old barrel vaults and mezzanine galleries.
The project is the second stage of a 10-year, £26 million programme to completely overhaul and safeguard the future of the theatre.
During the day the couple also met well-wishers on a walkabout and travel to Empire Fighting Chance, a charity using boxing to support children failing at school and in danger of drifting into a life of unemployment or even crime.
At Empire Fighting Chance, the couple met young people using the gym, and spoke to coaches about the positive impact boxing is having on Bristol's youngsters.
They were even gifted a pair of personalised boxing gloves each.
