Red Nose Day 2019 – how much money was raised, when was it and who presented the BBC fundraiser?

AFTER a two-year break, Red Nose Day came back in 2019 for a night full of fun and laughter.

But just how successful was Comic Relief? Here's everything you need to know about the fundraiser.

How much was raised for Red Nose Day 2019?

Comic Relief 2019 was a huge success.

In total, the public raised £63,548,668 - which will all be donated to wonderful causes, helping those in need both in the UK and abroad.

But it doesn’t stop there, there's still time to make a difference.

Where does the money from Comic Relief go?

Comic Relief spends the money that is raised through Red Nose Day and Sport Relief on disadvantaged people living in the UK and around the world.

Over the last 30 years over £1billion has been raised for the charity.

The Comic Relief charity is UK based and aims to free the world from poverty.

It has also backed campaigns to help disabled people get back into work and to highlight abuse of the elderly.

When was Red Nose Day 2019?

The Comic Relief telethon aired on BBC One on Friday, March 15, 2019.

It started at 7pm and ran right through to 2.30am on the Saturday morning.

It briefly switched to BBC Two when coverage on BBC One breaks for The News from 10pm to 10.40pm.

But as soon as the news finished, it was back on BBC One.

Who presented Red Nose Day 2019?

The presenting duties were among some of Britain's best comedians, actors and TV hosts.

Sir Lenny Henry, who is one of the founding members of the Red Nose Day telethon, wass the main presenter of the night.

David Tennant, Joe Sugg, Paddy McGuinness, Emma Willis, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, Alesha Dixon, Clara Amfo and Zoe Ball all joined him during the evening.

Is there going to be a Four Weddings and a Funeral sequel for Comic Relief?

Rom-com fans everywhere will rejoice at the news of a reunion of one of the all-time most beloved films in the genre for Red Nose Day, which will be shown on the night.

The short film is called One Red Nose Day And A Wedding, is for Red Nose Day 2019.

The one-off special follows the success of 2017's Red Nose Day Actually based on 2003's international hit film Love Actually.

Is Red Nose Day on every year?

Comic Relief is a biennial event which means it only takes place every other year.

It used to be held annually until 2002 when Sport Relief was introduced.

Now, Comic Relief falls on odd years, while Sport Relief happens in even years - like 2018.

Red Nose Day will be back next in 2021.
