THE Brit expat found brutally murdered in St Lucia was living with TWO young bisexual girlfriends, it’s been revealed.
Robert “Bob” Hathaway’s tangled love-life has been exposed in a Facebook conversation following the discovery of the 66-year-old’s naked body on bloodsoaked sheets on the island paradise.
Those close to the “charming Englishman” are struggling to comprehend why the tourism consultant – well known among the sailing community and hoteliers in St Lucia – was killed.
But neighbours and friends have told reporters they believe his infatuation with young local women, and his complicated private life, could provide clues to help track down his killer.
A murder investigation was launched after the Briton, who was stabbed to death, was found by his two live-in girlfriends at about midday on January 13.
A police spokeswoman told : “We are looking at every possibility, and Mr Hathaway’s relationship with local women is something we are investigating as a possible motive.”
One policeman, a close friend, added: “Bob was infatuated with young girls; he loved them. I think they brought him a lot of joy and comfort. It was just what he was into.”
At the time of his death, Hathaway was sharing his hillside house in Piat with two much younger women, whom he referred to as his “bisexual roommates,” reports .
He also had an estranged wife, Marquena James, who told the publication: “His weakness was always women.”
Hathaway described them as his “carers” to some people, as they apparently helped him with his debilitating arthritis, says The Times.
But to others, he labelled the young women as “a bisexual couple of girls… like two girlfriends", according to a conversation posted on Facebook following his death.
Hathaway added: “One young gf [girlfriend] living with me alone would be bored witless, so this arrangement seems logical and two months in seems to work.
“It helps that they don’t like wearing clothes.”
The two young women, named locally as Kim and Liz, are believed to have discovered Hathaway’s body when they returned home last Sunday.

That same day, a gruesome photo of the crime scene was sent via Facebook to his estranged wife, showing his naked body on bloodsoaked sheets, with a pillow over his face.
A distressed Marquena James, 23, told The Times: “I got cold. I couldn’t believe it… I started calling his phone. He wasn’t answering.
"I haven't slept since Sunday. Who in the world would do that to him, a man who wouldn't harm a fly?"
Hathaway had recently begun annulling their short marriage.
The couple met when James was aged 17, and initially lived together, but she became pregnant with another man's child several weeks after their wedding in November 2017.
However she had no qualms about telling her husband as they were "open" about such matters and he knew she wanted kids, and that "he couldn't give them to me".
The last time she saw Hathaway alive was when he dropped her off at the airport to fly to Martinique, to live with her child's father.
The Times reports that Hathaway spent nearly two decades on the island, running the Marigot Bay marina, and was heavily involved in the tourism trade.
Having a keen interest in local politics, he had warned against the granting of investment visas to foreign billionaires, saying they opened the door to gangsters wishing to launder money.
