A warrant alleges: “On numerous occasions Steven G. Todhunter placed the victim in the washing machine or dryer.
“When the victim was placed in the dryer, [Todhunter] would close and secure the door with a chair, and sometimes turns the dryer on.”
Although the warrant left out details about the victim, police records on Todhunter reveal he is a father to a three-year-old.
The question of whether the toddler was his own child are not clear, but the charging document states the victim was under six-years-old.
Fox News 6 also reported that he put a child inside a washing machine and threatened to turn it on.
The news outlet reported the child told reporters he was scared because because Todhunter had told him the water was going to be "very hot".
Fox News said the man had two young victims, and reported Alabaster Police detective Paul Johnson as saying: "It's painful, sometimes we see things in this line of work that no one should have to see."
Both child victims were under eight years old and were okay, the news outlet reported.
Todhunter’s Facebook page, which was peppered with comments blasting him in connection to the allegations, features pictures of himself with a young boy.
One comment read: “Too bad your fat a** can’t fit inside a dryer.”

Another person threatened to harm Todhunter himself, warning that he was “coming” for him.
Yet another warned that Todhunter – if convicted and sent to prison – would be a welcome mark for some inmates behind bars.
A second Facebook page of Todhunter’s with more recent posts included a photograph posted in November 2017 showing Todhunter with a woman who appeared to be his wife and the couple’s three children, including two young boys.
In a more recent post from earlier this month, Todhunter showed how by piling everything in front of a door.
Todhunter is also facing charges of felony domestic violence for allegedly holding a woman against a wall and choked her until she lost consciousness, according to the .
Todhunter was released from the Shelby County Jail after posting $20,000 bond.
He’s set to return to court for a preliminary hearing on February 6, the newspaper reports.
If convicted of aggravated child abuse, he faces up to life in prison.
Messages seeking comment from Todhunter were not immediately returned.
It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney.
