Commons leader Andrea Leadsom baffles MPs and viewers with her Winnie the Pooh-inspired Brexit strategy
Ms Leadsom told MPs: 'You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes'
COMMONS leader Andrea Leadsom left viewers scratching their heads after she began quoting Winnie the Pooh while outlining the Government’s next Brexit steps.
MPs looked perplexed as she urged her opposition colleagues to get round the table for talks with Theresa May to thrash out a Brexit solution.
Ms Leadsom said: “You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes”.
She went on to quote liberally from the children’s favourite with a peace offering to Speaker John Bercow - who she has repeatedly clashed with saying: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift which is why we call it the present.
“On the eve of A. A. Milne’s birthday that’s a favourite quote from Winnie the Pooh and as Eeyore said ‘It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine’, and so can I wish you Mr Speaker a very happy birthday for Saturday.
“Finally, can I leave the House with an uplifting and rather wise thought from Winnie-the-Pooh - ‘If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient, it may simply be he has a small piece of fluff in his ear’.”
