Maths graduate, 24, died from head and neck injuries after ‘knife attack’ as boyfriend charged with murder

A MATHS graduate died from head and neck injuries after she was stabbed in her flat, an inquest heard today.
Poppy Devey Waterhouse, 24, was pronounced dead inside the home she shared with her boyfriend Joe Atkinson, 25, in Leeds, West Yorks.
He was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder and is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.
A post-mortem carried out the day after the incident found the preliminary cause of death as head and neck trauma.
Jonathan Leach, the area coroner, said: "A post-mortem examination was carried out on December 15.
"In that statement, a preliminary cause of death was given as 1a head and neck trauma.
"On the morning on December 14, a call was received by the ambulance service in relation to an assault by stabbing at an address in Leeds.
"Police and paramedics attended. Paramedics certified death at 9.03am.
"A male was arrested at the property and an investigation has been conducted by West Yorkshire Police."
Globe trotter Poppy, originally from Frome, Somerset, enjoyed travelling visited Greece, Belgium, Morocco, Lithuania, Sweden and Denmark in 2018.
Poppy studied Financial Mathematics at the University of Nottingham before studying a Masters there in Statistics.
She got a first in her undergrad and a distinction in her masters.
The inquest was adjourned on a date yet to be fixed.
