THIS is the terrifying moment fireballs shoot from a passenger jet's engine in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil just moments after take off.
The Sao-Paulo-bound plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday following the horror incident which was captured by a passenger.
In the footage filmed by a passenger, the plane ascends over the city as blasts of fire burst from the engine under the wing several times.
The Gol airline flight took off from the Santos Dumont Airport in Rio heading for Congonhas Airport but had to land at Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport after a "technical limitation" in one of the engines, officials said.
The Brazilian airline said once the issue with the Boeing 737 was discovered, an "alternate landing" was necessary.
In statement, Gol wrote: "Gol informs that after flight G3 1025 took off, the flight crew identified a technical limitation in one of the engines, making an alternate landing necessary at the international airport of Rio de Janeiro."
They continued: "After the disembarkation of the passengers the aircraft was taken for evaluation by the maintenance team.
"The passengers were re-accommodated on the next flight and have now reached their destination.
"The company reiterates that it implements the highest safety standards, which is Gol's number one value."
