MEGHAN Markle laughed after a sweet OAP joked "you're such a fat lady" as the duchess showed off her baby bump on Wednesday.

The pregnant Duchess of Sussex beamed when she arrived at dog charity Mayhew in her third official royal job in just six days.

And the 37-year-old burst out laughing as adorable care home resident Peggy McEachrom affectionately noted her baby bump, saying: "You're such a fat lady."

Pregnant Meghan took it in jest, replying: "I'll take it!"

The duchess wore a light H&M ‘Mama’ maternity dress for the visit, pairing it with an £1699 Armani coat.

She made the most of visiting the animal welfare charity, cuddling and patting some of the dogs including Collie-cross Roobarb, six, this afternoon.

Meghan was particularly taken with one-year-old Minnie the dog, saying she would be "snapped up" after being put up for adoption

The former actress will work with the organisation to raise awareness for the work they do to improve the lives of animals and people in London.

But not all eyes were on the dogs - with the duchess' knees bizarrely appearing to have an uncanny resemblance to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Meghan has hit the ground running this year after being given her first patronages - including two from the Queen.

The roles, which will see her work with Smart Works, the National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities, were a vote of confidence from the Monarch after she joined the Royal Family last year.

It comes despite a rocky start to her life as a royal, with the American plagued with speculation she had clashed with Kate Middleton.

PREGNANT PAWS: Meghan's close bond with furry friends

Meghan owns a beagle Guy, and brought him over from Toronto to London when she moved in with Prince Harry.

The former actress adopted Guy and Labrador-German Shepherd mix Bogart from a dog rescue centre in Los Angeles while she was with her first husband, film producer, Trevor Engelson.

Bogart was too old to make the long journey when she moved to the UK, and is now being looked after by her friends.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently adopted a new black Labrador.

Rumours that Duchess of Cambridge was brought to tears during a bridesmaid’s dress fitting for Princess Charlotte were widely circulated last year, while it was claimed staff had nicknamed Meghan Duchess Difficult.

But the mum-to-be has been putting her best foot forward this year, embracing her new role.

It's a busy day for Meghan as she will attend a premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem with Prince Harry in Support of Sentebale at the Royal Albert Hall.

The evening will raise awareness and funds for Sentebale’s work with children and young people affected by HIV.

She this week headed to Birkenhead with husband Prince Harry, delighting fans as they revealed they were expecting their baby to arrive in April.

The former actress also visited Smart Works, another of her new patronages, last week. There, she gave fashion tips to women at the charity, even helping them prepare for job interviews.

ROYALS ON TOUR

It's a busy day for the Royal women, with Kate heading on a visit to the Royal Opera House.

Wearing a £2,736 fuschia pink Oscar de la Renta peplum style dress, the mum-of-three was taken through the Hamlyn Hall at the Royal Opera House.

And she reportedly donned new shoes for today's engagement, wearing black patent heels with a gold buckle detail.

Completing the outfit, she was seen carrying a £495 leather bag by Aspinal of London.

Kate also headed out on official business yesterday, visiting the Islington Community Garden for her first official Royal engagement of the year.

The Duchess of Cornwall will also undertake two engagements in Scotland.

Prince Charles' wife will head to the University of Aberdeen as part of her role as Chancellor.
